TLDs, or Top-Level Domains, are the part of the domain located to the right of the dot (.). TLDs are often referred to as “extensions”, the most common ones being .COM, .NET, and .ORG.
Most TLDs are available to any registrant, no matter their geographical location. However, a small share of TLDs has more specific guidelines to watch out for.
Types of TLDs
The three most common types of TLDs are Generic TLDs (gTLD), New-Generic TLDs (ngTLD), and Country-Code TLDs (ccTLD).
